New Trails
Things have been a little quiet on the filming front over the last couple of weeks however we have been busy looking for new spots to film. We’ve found a great little hill that should be great for filming, no trail exists at the moment but we should have something rideable in the next couple of weeks. We’ll keep you posted on it’s progress.
Lakeland Shoot

The Ridge Skipe Pass
It’s great heading to different locations and landscapes and viewing them for the first time. It’s not something I’ve done enough of but that’s what we hope to do with the next film. Mark and James here ripping down some of the finest trails in the lakes. Super steep, rocky and loose. Not a tree root in sight.
We’ve been know in the past for making films based in Scotland which has been great. However we’ve been thinking that it would be great to make a film that fully represents the UK as a scene.

Bouldering
So we’ve been looking further afield to shoot more great segments so that our next film is UK based and not all based in Scotland. We have recently filmed down in the Lake district both at Whinlatter and off the back of Helvelyn and we’re hoping to get back down to the lakes to do more filming of this amazing landscape.
We’ve also earmarked the Peaks and some locations in Wales so we’ll keep you posted on our trips further south. We’re also keen to here from riders who know of other amazing locations to ride and film so if you think you might know of the perfect trail let us know at Info at resetfilms.co.uk. In the meantime here are a few stills from our recent footage to wet your whistle.

Ben Lomond

Ben Lomond
I was invited to head up to Ben Lomond with Andy McCandlish and Andy Waterman from MBR on Friday just gone, I tagged along and done a spot of filming whilst the guys worked on shots for a Big Mountain feature for the next issue of MBR.
I’m not 100% certain how this will fit in with the next DVD but I still managed to get some great footage and also managed to document a little of how Andy Mac works which is something I would like to cover in the next film. I’m only posting a couple of stills here from the footage I don’t want to spoil the feature for you if your an MBR reader.

West Highlands with Rob Pollok

Black Mount Estate
We’ve been trying to shoot in new and interesting locations for the next DVD, so we’ve been scratching our heads and trying to come up with some new places that might appeal to riders to try for themselves. On this trip we stopped at the Bridge of Orchy on the way up north and rode a section of the West Highland Way between the Bridge of Orchy and the Devils Staircase.

Rob on the West Highland Way heading south.
We were treated with some stunning scenery and some views you’ll only see from the west highland way itself. The riding was a little slow due to the soggy ground but the scenery more than made up for the slow going. This was mid Feb, and in true highland style a weather front battered in and halted our progress we decided to head back before we reached the Kings House as the weather was not looking good. We stopped off at the Bridge of Orchy Hotel for some amazing grub before heading down to Inverary to check out a trail Rob had spotted a while back. The trail itself was very technical and wet but we managed to bag a few great shots again here a couple of frame grabs from the footage.

Seven Deadly Spins
Just over 7 days ago, Rob Lee finished riding the 2nd leg of his 7 Deadly Spins series. Basically he rode all of the red routes in the 7 stanes and the road links in between within 24hrs.

Newcastleton
I filmed this and followed him on his journey with the rest of the small crew who helped him feed and change bikes between road and trail legs. All I can say is what a guy, I had no idea of the scale of the task until I started documenting the journey. For anyone who has ridden one of these trails you know they can be demanding but to ride all 7 and then the bits in between is simply nuts.

Under the Slab at Dalbeattie
I think the total mile count is 255miles and total ascent of 22,652ft which takes you right across Southern Scotland from Peebles to Newton Stewart with detours. For those of you who don’t know who Rob is check out his website here sevendeadlyspins . He finished with a time of 23hrs and 13min, we’ll be making a short film for our next DVD, here are a few stills from the footage I managed to capture on the way.

Aviemore

David on his way to work.
Here are a few stills from our Aviemore reccy, we shot a little sequence with Dave from Bothy Bikes on the Bothy Trail. It was the first time I’d been up around there and the trails look amazing, I’m keen to get back up there and do more filming. We also popped in to see Lyndsey at Laggan but it was snowed out so again we’ll be back up there to shoot the trails early this summer.
Backwards

Mark Wilcox on McMoab
Well it began a while back but we neglected to do our blog so we’re starting now so expect some more backward blogging until we catch up. I know blogging is probably a bit old hat now but it seems the simplest way of updating everyone on what we’re up to.
This is a still frame taken from our shoot down in Kirroughtree at the end of February. Mark Wilcox is riding the famous McMoab section. This is an actual still from the footage, we’ve been working hard to try and improve our shooting techniques and we’re pretty pleased with the quality of the new material we’ve shot. We managed to section some of the best bits from the Red and Black trails. Many thanks to Mark, Duncan and Adam for blasting the trails and Sam and Claire at the The Breakpad for their hospitality during the trip down.
